About Gammy

Hi I'm Gammy.  That’s what my grandchildren call me.  When I created my personal website, coming up with a domain name was a “no-brainer”…hence, Gammy’s House.  [smile]

I was raised an "air force brat", and like all the other children I grew up around, I moved with my family every two years.  My brother, Tim, and I were best buds growing up.  Because we moved so often, always leaving friends behind, it made it difficult for us to form life long relationships, but we always had each other.

I married and started a family right out of high school, but before I was 30 I joined the "divorced with kids" club and landed in Texas.
Here I am at 19 years old with my first born, Danna.  A baby having a baby! Geez!!

They have a saying here in Texas, "I ain’t from here, but dag-gonnit, I got here as soon as I could".  And I did!  I loved Texas so much; I quickly went about setting my roots deep.  I may have been born in New Jersey, but I’m a Texas girl at heart!

I’ve lived here most of my adult life raising my children as a single parent.

My kiddiepoos in the earlier days.

Lynnette, cousin Wylie, Danna and Chad.  (Yep, he was a handful!)
I worked in the dental field for almost 20 years while raising the kids.  I also refinished furniture, sold my crafts and artwork, grew and canned my own organic veggies, volunteered as a women’s rape crisis counselor, taught the kids choir at church, gave ballroom and country and western dance lessons and even went through citizens police training academy.  Between work, volunteer and community activities and the kid’s hectic schedules, I look back and wonder how in the world I did it all.

ids…all grown up!  Woo Hoo!

Gammy's House is where I share information about my interests like baking, gardening, crafts, art, music, nature and sustainable living… and my family “happenings”, of course.

Here's a quote from my website:

At Gammy's House you'll find fresh baked cookies in the kitchen...can you smell them?  Oh yeah, and that's where you'll find all the FREE recipes too.  There's also helpful household hints and information, free garden project plans, uplifting stories and videos, fantastic FREE craft patterns, FREE music and ebook to download and lots of just plain "fun stuff" to see and do…

...you might even find a secret room or two...

so please, come over for a visit and make yourself at home. When you're ready for a break, find a cup of coffee (clue) and join me in the garden at my favorite morning coffee spot.

Hope to see ya soon!
